Why, good day to you, my dear fellow quizzer,
Today i will be talking to you about the proper manners to have when quizzing; especially at a larger tournament.
I know that most of these you probably already are accustomed to doing, but it's just a reminder that, no matter how crazy quizzing may seem sometimes, you still need to act your age, and you need to try to make things a little less strenuous for the adults that have volunteered to quiz master and content judge-they're amazing, so let's show them some appreciation. And the easiest way to do that, is to simply follow the rules of etiquette for quizzing. Thank you for reading! Keep calm and quiz on (and out) -Your fellow quizzer

Hello guys!
We're a good way through the year, so we've probably all already experienced the Acts edition of 'i'm ready to quit'. Pretty much every quizzer feels this-whether you're hitting it hard and memorizing all of Acts and you're just tired or burned out, or you haven't been doing that much, and you're just sick of getting beat up at the quizzes and maybe at practice too. Well, for your quizzing and motivational health, i'll give you a few tips on what to do in this circumstance. Just know, that unless you really try any of these things, it won't work. You have to put effort into it.
So that's just a few things to remember, but of all of them, know that you're the child of the one true King, and He WILL help you in your time of need, if you call out to Him. He doesn't force Himself on us. The Bible says that when we come near to God, He'll come near to us. Not the other way around. I hope that that helped you some, and that you would continue in this quizzing journey with me. Thanks for reading! Keep calm and quiz on (and out) -Your fellow quizzer Different Types of Questions and Their Quizzers-Part 2, According To's, Context and Situation12/10/2014 Hi everyone!
If you haven't read part one, i would encourage you do that before or right after you read this one! So, as a continuation, i will do the other three types of questions in this post; including tips for each one. ACCORDING TO QUESTIONS According to's can be as easy as general questions sometimes, if you get the whole question, or enough to finish it without question (i call this a 'sure fit'). However, when you label yourself as an 'According to quizzer' everyone immediately assumes that you can jump on those questions even before the whole reference is out, and get it right. This takes hours upon hours upon hours of work-and this isn't even coming from someone whose succeeded as an according to quizzer! Think of it this way-every single verse is a memory verse, and you CANNOT just quote it, you have to really understand it, so that you can make every single possible question out of the given verse, AND THEN go back and answer them all in the right order, and all of them correctly. If you get just one wrong, then even if you get the real question right, it is counted as an error to your score. I am continually amazed at according to quizzers, and i heartily respect them entirely. So, i don't really have a monumental something to say about these, so i'll just throw some light knowledge out there, concerning these verses.
CONTEXT QUESTIONS Context questions are pretty cool. because they are kind of like mystery questions. You never really know when to jump until you know that it's not a "Complete in essence the following;" or "From what old testament book does the following quotation come;" because you can't jump on an intro such as these. So here's just a few things to remember when jumping on these;
SITUATION QUESTIONS Situation questions and in what book and chapter questions switch off every year, because of the material we're going over-although I've heard that there is a year that both of them are used, but i'm not sure so don't quote me on this :-) Situation questions are like a whole bunch of generals packed into one question, and they're all about the same situation. Except there are different kinds of questions that they ask, like "what happened next" or "what was the reply". these are pretty simple, if you know the stories word for word. But, here's a couple things on them anyway;
Well, that's all for now, but i hope those two posts help you with the questions, and make you a better quizzer. Thanks for reading! Keep calm and quiz on (and out) -Your fellow quizzer Hello guys!
Today i'm going to be talking about the different kinds of questions that are asked in quizzing, and their quizzers, and some tips for each one. But i am going to split it up into two posts, since it will be a long one. GENERAL QUESTIONS General questions are the simple who, what, when, where, how, etc. questions that anyone can jump on and most of the time get right. At the more competitive quizzes, however, when they are jumping on just a word or two, they can become extremely difficult to answer, as you can imagine. These quizzers usually still memorize all of the material. In general questions you can give information from the section that the question only, and no more-section meaning, paragraph header. Multiples on these can be very difficult, because you pretty much just have to chose a section if you don't get a unique word in before you jump, and then there are possibly hundreds of questions that you could ask, if you actually get the right section by chance. Some tips for these questions;
QUOTE, FINISH, AND REFERENCE QUESTIONS All of the different types of memory questions are all obviously over the same eighty-six memory verses. Some of these are easier for other people than others, for example, i like just having to finish the verse, not having to give the reference as well. It's not because i'm lazy-even though i can be sometimes-it's because it's just another chance to me to get it wrong. I really don't like saying that, but it's just true. But all of them just require you to quote the verse in one way or another, and give the reference in one of the types. Pre-jumping on these question can be very tricky as well. On Quote questions, you could just get a "twenty-" and you don't know which one to do if there are two or more memory verses in twenty like in Acts 2. Finish, you have to really try to get the unique part in, or you just have to guess, or you can use some other method to get the question right. I myself have not been a memory quizzer in total, so i can't give you much information on them, or good strategies, because i don't want to give you bad information. And Reference questions are pretty much the same as Finish questions, but you really need to know the verses and their references inside, outside, upside, and downside-and you should probably throw and diagonal-side in there some how if you can :-P. Here's some things that i do know, though;
Well, i know that was fairly short, but the second part of this post will be coming up very soon, so stay tuned! Thank you for reading! Keep calm and quiz on (and out) -Your fellow quizzer
Hi guys! I have briefly mentioned the self-award system before, but i didn't go into much depth, so i'm going to dedicate an entire post to that, because it can really help your motivation to keep going with the strenuous task of quizzing. The 'Self-award system' is pretty self explanatory in the fact that you award yourself for completing an activity of some sort. However, there are few people who really do the self-award system correctly, even though there may seam no wrong way to do it, there in fact is. Here are some ways that people mess this amazingly effective system up for themselves frequently;
All of these can turn you off from the self-award system if you do them, because it simply isn't fair. This system does take a lot of won't-power, however, because you will be lining up rewards for yourself that you might have been able to just have anyway at a different selected time before you decided to begin this system of self-motivation. We want to avoid using things that we do or have on a regular basis because they don't excite us well enough to spark the fire of motivation effectively enough to get through another day of the stress and anxiety of quizzing. Here's some ideas for the award;
And, to help you organize all of this, i made a little sheet that you can print out for yourself and use for pretty much any goal-it doesn't have to be quizzing orientated, but that's what it's designed for. It can be reading, memorizing, amount of questions, etc.. This particular file gives four goal sheets a page, because i like to be efficient. Also, i did not put a designated space to put the award, but feel free to do so! I hope this helps you to be a little more kind to yourself if you're usually not, and helps you to be a little harder on yourself if you're usually not. This has helped me even out these mood swings, and get motivated more easily. Make sure to put these charts in the front pocket of your study binder! :-)
