Hi guys! This weekend was another awesome and fun quiz, which, like all the others, I continued to learn more about the sport, my abilities and goals, other quizzers and competitions, and of course, the Word. Two particular things stood out to me at this quiz, so I'm going to take time to talk about those in depth. Also, included at the top and bottom of this post is a free downloadable printable you can use yourself, or give to another quizzer to help with day-to-day studying, especially during the holiday season, where a lot of quizzers (especially novice) get a little discouraged and/or bored with quizzing and slump in their study, or completely quit. So feel free to share this with anyone you think could benefit.
This can be a little scary, at first, or maybe even exciting or overwhelming. You've got a pretty big responsibility, not only because of appeals, challenges/rebuttals, time-outs, watching out for fouls to inform your coach about during a time-out, but also, you set the state of mind for your team a lot of the time. The captain is who leads the team. The captain,
Overall, the captain needs to be sturdy not only in their understanding of the material, but in quizzing as a sport, the rule book, quizzing etiquette, good manners, sportsmanship, and display of maturity. 2. Some Novice quizzers might not know where to start with their studying at home I know that, as a novice, I followed the checklist in the yellow devotional book I got at the beginning of the year with my scripture portion, and this helped me get started, and keep my balance as I tried to start walking along my quizzing journey. However, when an older, more experienced quizzer, takes the time to talk to a novice about what they do to study, it means a lot to the novice. They might take the advice, and work super hard, just because you and your coach took the time to get them encouraged and excited about quizzing and studying God's Word. Little things like this can have a big impact on someone's life, it's not something that should be underestimated. Try to help the newer quizzers that walk through the door; they're the future of quizzing, as scary as that might sound at times :P Don't hesitate to give them tips about how to be a better quizzer, or, if possible, mentor them. The districts or regions that have the most supportive experienced quizzers of the novice, are typically the strongest for the longest time, if you'd like to think about it from a competitive angle as well. If you have a gift of persuasion or leadership, use it. Had a great time seeing and quizzing everyone at the quiz this weekend, and can't wait for the Bethany Quiz! Keep calm and quiz on (and out)! Thanks for reading! Your fellow quizzer, Mallory

Hello everyone!!
I have a very exciting post today! I had talked about keeping track of how you're doing back in July, and now (very sorry for the delay) I finally have the printable to give you the ability to do that with as little confusion as possible :P These are for personal use only This is the new and improved score sheet that I've made for this season. There are some columns on it that I didn't have last season, because I simply didn't think about it. But hey, everything's got to be tweaked every now and again :P The sheet that I have for you here is made to have room for four quizzes, to be efficient. Anyway, I've been very busy lately, and so has Megan, so that is why we haven't been able to post much. I apologize for that, and assure you that everything will be back to normal speed pretty soon, when everyone gets into the groove of things again. As always, thank you for reading, and thank you so much for your patience and understanding :) Have a great day! Keep calm and quiz on (and out)! Your fellow quizzer, Mallory P.s If the document link doesn't work, as it has been reported before, then you can right click the picture of the score sheet, and open it in a new tab and "save as..." to your computer, and print it through there, or copy the image and paste it into a word document and print, or pretty much anything else you can think of :P Please contact me if these fail as well... we'll figure out something. IT'S 2015 GUYS! You know what that means, right? Time for those old, reliable, resolutions! And with the other, personal ones, i am deciding to add a line for quizzing goals! And since i like everything in it's place and organized, i am making a little sheet for you to print out, and fill out, and hang in your room (frame, tack, magnet board, etc.) , or somewhere else where you will see it every day, that will remind you why on earth you're doing this :-) There are two different styles of the exact same kind of sheet, so just choose which one gets you more excited about quizzing, and which one you just like better :-) On this list, here are some things that i wrote;

Hi guys! I have briefly mentioned the self-award system before, but i didn't go into much depth, so i'm going to dedicate an entire post to that, because it can really help your motivation to keep going with the strenuous task of quizzing. The 'Self-award system' is pretty self explanatory in the fact that you award yourself for completing an activity of some sort. However, there are few people who really do the self-award system correctly, even though there may seam no wrong way to do it, there in fact is. Here are some ways that people mess this amazingly effective system up for themselves frequently;
All of these can turn you off from the self-award system if you do them, because it simply isn't fair. This system does take a lot of won't-power, however, because you will be lining up rewards for yourself that you might have been able to just have anyway at a different selected time before you decided to begin this system of self-motivation. We want to avoid using things that we do or have on a regular basis because they don't excite us well enough to spark the fire of motivation effectively enough to get through another day of the stress and anxiety of quizzing. Here's some ideas for the award;
And, to help you organize all of this, i made a little sheet that you can print out for yourself and use for pretty much any goal-it doesn't have to be quizzing orientated, but that's what it's designed for. It can be reading, memorizing, amount of questions, etc.. This particular file gives four goal sheets a page, because i like to be efficient. Also, i did not put a designated space to put the award, but feel free to do so! I hope this helps you to be a little more kind to yourself if you're usually not, and helps you to be a little harder on yourself if you're usually not. This has helped me even out these mood swings, and get motivated more easily. Make sure to put these charts in the front pocket of your study binder! :-)
Thanks for reading! Keep calm and quiz on (and out) -Your fellow quizzer Hello everyone! At the last quiz i was at, i tried out a system that i wanted to give to all of you if it worked-and it did, with flying colors :-) My prototype was just written in a little note book, so feel free to do that and/or make your own version of it. But here's one that i made for you that's a little bit more professional.
And since the way i tried to give you something like this last time didn't really work all that well, i'm going to try it this way. They are made so that there are four sheets per page of paper, to save ink and paper and make it more mobile. It would be cool to keep all of these after each quiz and put them in your study binder, so that you can look at them afterward. (The 'Q#' is for what question number you got out of the quiz on. I.e. quizzed out on the tenth question, you would put a 10 there. And the 'QZ#' is for what number the quiz is out of the year-pretty self-explanatory :-))
Hope you have fun with your personal score cards! Thanks for reading! Keep calm and quiz on (and out) -Your fellow quizzer |
