Hello there, you wonderful people! By the time you're reading this, I will have been on my way to Indianapolis for the World Bible Quiz 2017! Man, it's been one heck of a season, hasn't it? Some crazy stuff going on! I'm gonna to speak specifically to all of the quizzers I'm gonna see at nationals this week, for a second... It's been a long season, and we've successfully learned the biggest book in the quiz material rotation. We have all put in a lot of effort, and now we just need to push a little more. By Friday night, the Luke season will be officially complete, and the summer break will begin! Here we go, the final push; lets hit this grind as hard as we can, and really make this week a phenomenal finale! But anyway, lets get into what we're talking about today: Christ confidence, whether we win or lose! The Bible is packed full of God telling us to have confidence, how to grow in it, and how to walk it out - and what happens when His people choose to do so. But what is Biblical confidence? I looked up several passages on this subject, and I'm obviously still searching it out, but I think I've come to a pretty steady conclusion. Christ confidence isn't about us, it's about who God is. And as we learn about who He is, we learn a lot about ourselves because we are made in His image, and because through the wonderful promises He's given us, we see His character. Having confidence, boldness, to do what God's called us to do and to obey Him, has to come from us not caring what other people think and only caring about our relationships with the Lord - that means that the relationship we have with Him is important in our lives. Whatever takes root inside of us, will produce fruit on the outside. If we're putting the truths of His Word into our hearts, growing in confidence (faith) through hearing it (Romans 10:17), then we're being transformed on the outside - becoming less timid, afraid and self-conscious, and more bold, happy, and compassionate to others. If we want Christ confidence, then we have to plant the seeds in our hearts first, listen to and meditate on the truth, and the change will come, because who God says we are becomes more important to us than who others say we are, and even more important than who we say we are. When we have this fruit of confidence, we can say that at the end of the day, no matter if we won or lost, it doesn't really matter - because our God is proud, pleased, and that it's not based on how good or bad we performed. I probably don't even need to say this, because it's so obvious, but I'll say it anyway: I don't do this anywhere near perfectly!
I just know what the truth is, because I've been talking to God about it a little. I can say some pretty crazy stuff on this blog sometimes, and that makes me feel a little like the Apostle Paul when he says that he's bold over letters, but in person he's more timid. I don't say much, or anything, about this kind of stuff around my friends or family (maybe because it never comes up :P), but that's because I'm still learning, and still growing in the same confidence that everyone else is. This week I pray for confidence for all of you, my friends, and that we all grow closer to the Father and keep seeking Him out farther. Sorry the post was a little shorter today, I just felt like that was all that needed to be said. :P Anyway, have a fantastic week you guys! Love y'all! Keep calm and quiz on (and out)! Your fellow quizzer, Mallory
