Hey guys! Q2018 is right around the corner - Like less than twenty days! It's gonna be so much fun, and I'm super excited for it. But seeing as the time between now and then is SUPER important for us quizzers, I want to talk to you guys about motivation today. More specifically, I wanted to share with you guys the (updated) ways that I pump myself up, so that I can give studying and practicing all I've got - especially in this last sprint of the season! So hopefully you can take some inspiration from a few of these, and maybe try them out in your own quizzing. Let's hop right into it! 1.) Deciding where I would specifically like to place, in each division at Q This may be a no-brainer for some of you, but for me, it's something that I forget to think about a lot of the time! So whenever I really don't feel like studying "right now", I've started to try and think about where I would like to place individually (and where I would like my team to place), in the Regional division, District, and Local. And if my goals are super high (like they admittedly are, sometimes), then that just throws me into "I really need to do this, and I need to do it well" mode, and it's not as much of a struggle to get myself to start studying again. 2.) Reminding myself of my competitors Man, isn't this a good one since I've switched regions! :P But for real, in the past five years of quizzing, I've had the privilege of meeting so many cool people, and so many awesome quizzers - and I've lost to so many LOL. But whether I know my competition personally or not, I still know that it's gonna be a tough quiz at Q for the most part. And I know that I'm going to want to be at my very best! Being at my best, just like you being at your best, is a hard thing to achieve! And I think that we very rarely get to see ourselves experiencing the full (or close to the full) excellence that we are capable of. But in order to get as close as possible, I know that I'm going to have to put some serious time, energy, and effort into studying and practicing before Q. 3.) Thinking of my teammates In every division at Q this year, I'll be quizzing with a different group of people - My regional team, by local team, and probably some people from other states in the District division. So when I think of my teams, and how that I really don't want to let any of them down by not doing my best, it motivates me to put the work in. On the contrary, as I'm sure is the case with you guys as well, I would love to be a big asset to my team, and to help lead them to victories. But I can only do that, if I put in the work now! And those are the main ways that I've been motivating myself lately. I know it's kind of a short post today, but I hope that you enjoyed it and that it inspired or motivated you a little bit!
With that, guys, keep quizzing and living victoriously! Keep calm and quiz on (and out)! Your fellow quizzer, Mallory
