Hi, I'm Mallory!
My blog, The Bible Quizzing Journey, is focused on "quizzing and living victoriously" (this is our "Title of Liberty"). That means that I am committed to giving away valuable, and reliable content, that you can use to continuously improve your life - both inside, and outside of Teen Bible Quizzing.
My passion for blogging is centered around being a good role model for younger people, and sowing into the next generation by passing on what I've learned.
This is my rule of thumb for all of the content that I create... "My content must be God-ruled, God-based, and quizzing-oriented. Anything that isn't, should be thrown out" ...and I love it!
But why should I be talking about this? Here's a little background about me...
I started quizzing in the fall of 2013 with the South Texas District in the Southern Region. In the fall of 2016, my family and I moved to the Colorado District in the Northwest Region, and I began quizzing with them.
In my quizzing career, I have...
- Made six district teams
- Made SNU Regional A Team once (on which we won 1st at the 2015 National championship)
- Made NNU Regional A Team 2017 (on which we won 2nd at the 2017 National championship)
- Made NNU Regional A Team 2018 (I think I placed somewhere between 12-20 in Field Individual?)
- Made NNU Regional A Team 2019, Senior Year
- Placed 4th National Individual 2019
- Three-way tie for 2nd Individual, Nationals 2019 (cheers to Grace Michaels and JohnMark Clements!)
- Had the privilege of so many amazing and precious people.
How I started blogging:
I began writing this blog in November of 2014, after a district qualifying quiz to go to the St. Louis Top Ten tournament.
I began writing posts, but I didn't really commit to creating consistent and valuable content until the end of 2016. In 2017 I began to...
Yeah, it's been a busy year :P. But it has been SO much fun to watch TBQJ grow, and to see the impact it can have on people - it's one of my favorite things to do!

- Write on the blog on a weekly basis (every Monday)
- Commit time to planning out good and organized thoughts to share
- Start social media marketing, beginning with an Instagram account (@TheBibleQuizzingJourney)
- Write and send out a biweekly TBQJ Newsletter with exclusive content, thereby creating a TBQJ inner circle
- Sacrifice time to formatting correctly, updating content regularly, and doing website maintenance
- Film and publish biweekly TBQJ Vlogs on YouTube (oriented more towards the Bible study side of TBQ, rather than competition)
- And make more effort to connect with other quizzers, both novice and experienced

What quizzing has done for me:
Let's get into my quizzing testimony...
Quizzing has been a huge help in my life. I have no idea where I would be, or who I would be, if I hadn't gone to that first TBQ practice.
Back in 2013-2014 and even into 2015, I wasn't really in a good place (even though I was just 12-13 years old). I was tense and stressed out for no reason, angry a lot of the time because of that, and I had a lot of insecurity - and in retrospect, I realize that most of this stemmed from being unhealthily self-centered.
Regarding my friends outside of my quiz team, there weren't any good influences - not joking. But their negative influence slowed down considerably after I dived into the Word (Romans and James at that time), and got surrounded by other peers who were doing the same.
My parents told me that they saw a big change take place after I'd started quizzing. But that wasn't when the big change happened.
Yes, even though I was quizzing and I had invited Jesus into my heart when I was seven, I didn't really pay much attention to God. Much less my personal relationship with Him. I didn't start caring about any of that until about June of 2015 at a youth mission trip/youth camp.
I got a revelation about how much God loved me for the first time, during one of the worship services, and I committed my life to Him later that night. About a month after that, my family and I went to a "Family Bible Conference" in Colorado (where we moved a year later). There I got baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, which has totally revolutionized my life.
When I got back home, I had to make some pretty drastic (and incredibly hard) life changes - but the several months that followed them were the best I'd had yet!
The months, weeks, and days that have followed since then (and especially since moving to Colorado) have only continued to get better. I'm learning more and more about God, and His crazy love for me, and who I am in Him. Life is absolutely amazing!
Yeah, of course I still have problems, of course I still have harder times - but now I don't get drowned by them, because I've learned how to grab on to Jesus' hand, so that He can pull me out.
Quizzing continues to contribute to the improvement of my life, though making me get into the Word when I don't necessarily feel like it, and thereby causing me to involuntarily deepen my relationship with my heavenly Father.

Why I continue to blog:
Besides from this blog being one of my favorite hobbies, and something that I've committed to, I have four over-all goals for it:
Like I said in the beginning of this page, my over-all aim is to provide people with quality content, be an encouraging voice in their life, and just sow into the next generation of quizzers, and my generation of the church.
- Help quizzers find the source of their motivation/inspiration to quiz
- Share what I've learned about quizzing and about the material we cover
- Give ideas to help others in their quizzing journey
- Help quizzers remember the real purpose of the sport

Where I'm heading:
Right now, I have a macro vision from God about my life, but I'm still seeking Him on what to do after the foreseeable future. My heart is definitely in the ministry, but as to what part of it I'll be going into, I'm not sure.
I know that I have gifts, and a specific calling and purpose from my Father, and that encourages me to keep giving life my best effort!
I am going to Charis Bible College after I graduate in the spring of 2019, and I'm super excited to get there! But the Lord has promised me that this time of preparation, as I'm still in high school, is going to be rich and rewarding as well - so I'm excited for today too!
All I know, is that whatever God's got in store for me, is going to be perfect, awesome, fulfilling, and exciting.
A little more about me and my life:
I'm in my junior year of high school now, and apart from quizzing (and blogging), my life consists of...
Some of my favorite things on earth are my family and friends, coffee, fall, sweaters, getting good grades, doing my hair and makeup, road trips, and a clean house (:P). The scenery in Colorado is AMAZING, obviously, so I absolutely love hiking in God's gorgeous creation as well!
